Research has shown that the Covid-19 lockdown measures expose people at risk to worsening domestic abuse, whilst restricting their access to support.
Although Covid-19 does not cause domestic abuse, and only perpetrators are responsible for their actions, perpetrators are using the pandemic as a tool for coercion and manipulation, often using it to induce fear.
The Women’s Aid website includes some useful practical safety advice and guidance for people who may be at risk of domestic violence, and for family, friends, neighbours and members of the community who want to support them. You can find the website at womensaid.org.uk
