At its meeting on 9 January, the Parish Council set its budget for the next financial year. The Council is facing additional costs in 2017/18 which includes the proposed extension to the car park at its sports fields.

After considerable debate during the meeting the Council decided to increase the precept rather than use any of its reserve funds. The total precept for 2017/18 will be £85,260 - an overall increase of just under 12%. This equates to an annual increase of about £6.30 on a Band D house. Councillors recognise the importance of avoiding unnecessary increases but also that the money collected from the Parish Council's precept is essentially spent in Stocksfield for the direct benefit of residents.
